It's not really designed for fast, easy money despite what the spam campaigns may say. There is a minimum 90 day holding period and without hundreds of views per day you won't see more than a dollar a day. A few questions: What are your expectations for your website? Have you done any SEO? What is your web traffic target? How many visitors do a you get per day? You can email me the answers if you would rather not post them here.

3 Things: -Keywords in metadata on each page -External Links (to your site from other sites) -Time & Hits (the more popular you are over time, the lower your page number on search engine rankings) For $500 / month: Do all of the above first. Then check into SEO optimization companies like Orange Soda. Also, check into Google Analytics.

chi Any point in buying a book about SEO? < joviyach > 2009-11-05 10:52:21
I was looking at books on Amazon about search engine optimization, and I began thinking... Is there any point in buying a book on this? It seems that the "rules of the game" change so rapidly that any book on this subject, at least any book that isn't solely theoretical in nature would be immediately obsolete. Your thoughts?

njy Lookup SEO through Google < RampidByter > 2009-11-01 05:37:44
Getting found on Google or any other search engine is not as simple as submitting to the search engine that your site exists. First i would setup a Google Analytics account so you can monitor traffic coming to your site. Just google analytics, and then for bing.com to go more > developers center. Then as the other posts suggested submit your site URL to bing.com, and google.com. Also from the sounds of it your site is very small. That is bad for search engines. The more information you have the more pages you have the bigger target you are for search engines. The content itself needs to be tailored correctly too. Concentrate on keywords that you should use CONSISTENTLY throughout the entire site to have search engines concentrate on them too. If your site is about books make books a good keyword, if its about cheese make sure cheese is referenced a lot on the site. There is also the METADATA tags in HTML that are the most commonly overlooked part of the site. Search engines use the keyword meta data section to match the keywords you put there with actual text found on your page. Each page should have it s own keyword metadata section along with a description of that page. Keep it consistent and keep it concise in your page descriptions. Thats the best 30 second advice I can give on the subject. Just google SEO and you will see a ton of sites. If you get a ton of email from people promising to raise your keyword ranks they are scammers looking for easy money. The best way to figure that out is ask them how they plan to raise the keyword searches for your site. If they never mention once tailoring anything from your site markup/code then they are liars. I have seen it a thousand times. They charge 4000 or maybe 150 a month to raise your traffic. They then stick your site on another webpage or make false claims about how good your company is via Google business links (probably want to set that up too) and you end up looking like your falsely inflating your company. Its bad business and shotty practice to trust those guys.

Yes I do know about SEO, have studied it some, and like HTML and CSS, and anything else there's going to pretty much always be more about it to learn, especially with the web being the constantly evolving creature it is. I'll check out the article link you posted. Thanks for all the replies so far people.

sfo Do you know SEO? < RegDCP > 2009-10-17 12:43:29
I would say first you should understand the basics of writing good code, CSS and(X)HTML, and have an understanding of PHP/MySQL. I understand that there are other code options to investigate but PHP/MySQL is pretty much center stage. Once you have a grip on this, start investigating some of the open source packages. This will give you a handle on what is currently being done in the industry and give you a chance to gain some notoriety by helping in the development of your chosen content management systems. As a web developer of well over a decade, I am firmly against "reinventing the wheel". It really does not matter what you want to do, there are readily available, free, systems, (usually PHP/MySQL based), for anything you want to do. You could not build a hand coded system with 10% of the power in months of constant work. No matter what you do or what kind of environments you choose to develop in, the one thing you need to learn is SEO. (Search Engine Optimization). If your website is not found in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), if people cannot find it in their searches, your work is wasted. Being an active practitioner of SEO, I have some articles on my site dotcom-productions.com/08/articles.php?tPath=6"

mad Different ways < EruditeGuy > 2009-10-03 18:40:43
For non-web-based fonts, most people use images (not practical for SEO). Others use a technique call siFR, which essentially is feeding text into a flash movie that has the embed "funky" font. The flash movie renders the text. Another way would be to employ embedded fonts in your stylesheet.

nyc Solution: < AgentKeech > 2009-10-02 18:59:18
Well after thinking about your problem for a while I came up with a solution. Create a blog with the same name as yourself but simply make up all of the information. If you do a little bit of simple SEO, you should be able to bump the existing results lower on the list. Afraid that's your only solution unless you control the page the content is hosted on. *Note* The "simple code" you were talking about earlier is known as a robots.txt. This will not apply unless you are the site owner.

When talking about SEO, you should be talking about CONTENT, not URL. Search engines don't care what symbols are in your URL, as long as they are valid for the web. Concentrate on two major things for best SEO: your website's content and getting solid, relevent backlinks from highly ranked sites. Those two things will help you the most in the long run.

I do the same thing occasionally when i get bored ( although the word combination may not be as tame as yours) so I can't really judge. Website redirection generally via these methods: Server aliasing, frame redirection, .htaccess redirects, or html redirects. Many times its intentional to increase seo, but other times it can be caused by malicious parties adding these redirects to hijack traffic. Other more unlikely causes can include DNS spoofing.

sfo To Do Seo Yoursel..........f Or Not To! < seotrainingcoach > 2009-07-09 06:41:40
1) If you can afford seo services and you can use your time more productively and concentrate on things that will help you bring in more money then pay for it 2) Not sure what type of site do you have, is it a online business that makes money for you, or just a play thing does not make you money? 3)Seo is an ongoing thing for life it could stay high on google without any seo maintenance depending on how competitive your business is, it may take you 5-10 hours per month depending on your sites objectives...I am consulting you without knowing your needs so not easy!!!. 4) Is it urgent you start ranking asap or can you wait a little bit, there is a learning curve and time invovled in getting your site ranked. If you learn how to do it and minimize mistakes by using maybe a seo coach you should be able to get the job done in around the same time a seo company will take, since it takes time to see your results anyway after your site is optimized. 5) You can read that seo for dummies book or go to a seo company and pay them for a consultation to consult you on what steps you need to take to accomplish what you need to do, then do it yourself to save time and money 6) Or you can take 1 on 1 phone seo coaching to speed up the process and ensure you maximize learning and minimize costly mistakes seo beginners make, and they won't be able to rip u off by some fast talking seo salesperson. The 1 on 1 type seo coaching environment as opposed to reading a book is much more productive simply because there is interaction with your instructor and you can ask questions as you are learning and questions arise which a book you can never open the book and ask the book questions nor can it give you assignments on a scheduled time you must complete with your site nor can it review your site to ensure you did the right thing...which can save you time and potential loss of profits down the road if you have a online business site, the prices vary from a couple of $1000 to the low $300-$500.00 range < Seo Training Coach - Six Hour 1 on 1 Coaching Class....$300.00( Free 45 Minute Coaching Session Related To Your Most Pressing Seo Related Questions. pdx Confused with your question... < seotrainingcoach > 2009-07-09 05:58:25
1) clarify question by providing keyword being used to make your site pop up with other, and domain name that is similar 2) if similar domain name is being used and you have registered business name that is that domain name then you have a case, and you should contact other webmaster and tell them you have a copyright and registered that domain name to take their down or legal claim will be commenced. htf Why techs don't teach < Kegtapper > 2009-07-04 17:36:41
Techs do not teach. First it is not their job. Secondly because they had to pay to go to school to learn. Then most individuals do not want to pay by the hour that tech's command when you waste their time. (this I know) Example: a tech goes over to a house to repair DVD/codec issues. Before confirming the price for the service they estimate worse case scenarios and easy scenario. Then they say ~$35. Agreed. Then the tech arrives and it's a quick fix. Some times it takes longer. There was no previous mention of wanting to know about string theory, quantum mechanics and SEO before arriving. Though the tech knows, he may not want to have to explain each thing the layman has no clue of. (What's an IDE cable?) For some $7500-10,000 and 1-2 years of tech school was the cost. Of which they were making little or no money at all. If you are keeping/delaying him by asking asinine questions, his student loan will still have to be paid. So don't blame it on the tech. You can be ripped off by Geek Squad if you want to pay by the hour. Go back to school to learn what you want, or pick up a book/google every now and then. Too lazy to take the time? Read it in the toilet.
