Extremely rare wooden rocking chair by Hubbard & Eldredge Company of Rochester, NY. Exact date is unknown but there is a partial label on the underside of the seat. This chair is from the estate of Rear Admiral Hunt who was an active duty naval aviator in World War Two. I acquired it and a number of other pieces from his son about thirty-five years ago.
Ihave researched online and have been unable to find a reference to this chairor a photo of another like it. I have examined the Hubbard, Eldredge and Miller catalog from 1910 and it is not in there. The research I have done indicatesthe chair is 19th century. Note the label says Hubbard &Eldredge and makes no mention of Miller.
I will ship this chair but it is a big package and will require lots of packing and need to fabricate an appropriate size box. Contact me before purchase if you desire shipping.
