This delightful vintage 1940's high chair of solid maple wood construction was manufactured by the E.L. Thompson Chair Corp., based in Baldwinsville, MA, most likely in the mid 1940's. (The patent for this design # US2108472-Tray Fastening Device was applied for on Nov. 21, 1936, and approved in Feb. 15 193s; US2244096-Child's Chair & Walker was applied for Jan. 26, 1939 and approved June 3, 1941; & US2177297-Chair Tray was applied on Sep. 25, 1937 and approved Oct. 24, 1939).
The back of the seat sports a decal, in what I would say in great condition for its age. It appears to be a pink teddy bear knitting a garment. There are also 3 more decals in pretty fair condition on the try as well. Please see pics for better inspection.
The chair is in very sturdy, good condition. The original leather "keep the child from sliding out" strap is present, which is pretty rare judging from the rest of these I have seen at auctions and antique shops.
Do not pass up this opportunity to own such a well preserved piece of history. These do not come by that often in this condition!! Great conversation piece in any room of your home.
