1974 Irwin 28.5 Mark III sailboat in excellent condition. (30 ft. overall with anchor roller)
Has a shoal keel with a 3 ft. draft and a 7 ft. draft when centerboard is deployed. Bottom job done 2 years ago with Pettit Odessy ablative. New hull and topside paint done at the same time. The boat is registered "Antique", so the registration renewal is $5.25/yr
Sails are like new. Full batten main w/ 2 reefing points and 145% genoa on a Profurl system, 2 Lewmar self tailing winches and an 18 Ft. telescoping Forespar line control whisker pole.
Has wheel steering with a backup tiller, Fortress FX16 anchor with 25 ft. stainless chain and 150 ft. rode. Also has a spare 15 lb. danforth anchor with galvanized chain and 100 ft rode. Numerous docklines and spare lines, 3 large fenders and all safety gear. Installed a telescoping 4 step boarding ladder so getting back onboard is very easy. Has a 2 burner propane stove below and a Magma charcoal grill mounted on the stern.
Has a perfect running Yanmar 2GM 13 with the top end rebuilt 5 years ago. Extensive spare parts for the motor including full water pump assembly, water pump rebuild kit, filters, belts, exhaust elbow and the original 3 ring binder mechanics specs. Has a Kansaki clutch, new drive shaft, new cutless bearing, a spare 3 blade bronze prop and a 20 gal fuel tank that will bring you to Key West and 1/2 way back.
Has new electronics including Garmin touch screen GPS, Raymarine depth, speed and autohelm. Has 3 Paneltronics switchboards for a total of 15 circuits, 2 newer batteries and LED running and deck lights. Ritchie BN202 bulkhead compass and Plastimo helm compass. Weems & Plath bulkhead mount clock and barometer. Has a VHF, stereo and speakers below, but I generally use a bluetooth boombox and hand held VHF in the cockpit. Has 4 12V fans below and a small portable inverter.
Has new mainsail cover, (plus old spare) new bimini and dodger on SS frames. The dodger is set up for quick deploy and collapse, and the bimini has 2 back curtains and one side curtain to keep you fully out of the sun.
Has 30 gal pressurized fresh water holding tank, manual Jabsco head, Y valve and 8 gal bladder holding tank. All seacocks and plumbing in perfect working condition.
Comes with a 10 ft. inflatable WM dinghy with a high pressure inflatable floor in perfect condition with no leaks. It's rated for 1350 lbs. and a 10 HP motor. When vacuumed out, it weighs 60 lbs. and lives in my a/c closet. Has a 4 hp Yamaha 4 stroke with about 20 hrs on it that I bought new and will get the dinghy on plane with 1 person. Has a 3 gal remote fuel tank or use the onboard tank. (I never put fuel in the onboard tank) Has a small cooler to store a mushroom anchor and line, bellow pump, patch kit and dock lines and safety gear.
Other item included are a radar ball, 5 x 150 ft. of anchorline for when I tie it up in the middle of the canal for hurricanes, (no hurricane damage!) 2 handheld VHF radios and chargers, spare Standard Horizon color GPS, Tasco 50 offshore binoculars, scuba tank with regulator, BC, 50 ft. hose, a new Harken bolsuns chair, spotlight, hand crank to start the diesel, tools and a long list of spare parts.
This is a total turnkey package @ 9500. The price is 8500 without the dinghy package. I've owned the boat for about 15 years and it always got the best of everything to help keep me safe everywhere. She won't let you down. She sails like a dream, is very forgiving, and with a 3 ft. draft you have an extensive playground. The centerboard has been rebuilt from scratch and is on a line control system, but it rarely necessary to deploy unless racing upwind or in a heavy seastate.
If interested but don't have sailing knowledge, I'll include 6 hrs. of on the water lessons for free.
